Wanna know why you keep quitting on your nutrition goals?
Good, cause I'm gonna tell you. Most of us know how we want to eat and exercise. We do it for a while, then life happens. We eat the damn cake or we skip the gym, and start in with the shitty self talk, “Why can’t you stick to your diet”, “You just can’t resist cake”, “You are never going to lose this weight”, “Why even bother, you’re a mess”, “You screwed up, again!”, blah blah blah.
This voice is what actually sabotages our effort…
NOT the cake.
NOT the missed workout
NOT the holidays
NOT the kids candy
NOT the vacation…
All this BS self talk is the gateway drug to F*ck-it-ville. “What’s the point, I already screwed up, I may as well eat it”, “I will start over on Monday”, “I'm not a gym person”, “I'm too busy to do this right”, “Healthy food is boring”.
Then we feel defeated and go back to our old habits. This cycle happens again and again…sometimes for decades.
HERE is how to break the cycle…
1. Notice the critical voice
You know that voice you would never speak to your BFF with? that's the one.
2. Turn your judgemental thoughts into compassionate curiosity.
Curiosity is a direct window into the thing keeping you stuck.
3. Go back to when you decided to eat the cake. Replay it in your mind like a movie and ask yourself-with compassion...
What were your thoughts?
How did you feel?
What did you say to yourself to justify the decision…
(One bite won’t hurt, I have been so good, It's a party! Live a little!)
Was your body nourished, were you tired or feeling deprived?
4. What could you do differently next time?
You will begin to change your patterns and unravel your habits. Then, you can create habits that give you the results you want. As we’re flowing into Spring, it’s the time for fresh starts and new beginnings!
