The biggest nutrition mistake women over 40 make...

Is not eating optimal protein.

I call protein the fountain of youth.

Protein is an essential nutrient. Essential means our body can’t make it.

We must eat it, in optimal amounts every single day to protect our muscles, bones, skin, hair, and nails.

However, any and all protein is not optimal.

Protein has to be in a certain dose to trigger your muscles, sort of like taking Motrin for a headache - you can’t take 1/4 of a Motrin at 8 am noon, 4 pm and 8 pm and expect your headache to go away.

You have to take the right dose at each meal.

So what’s the right dose of protein?

It’s more than you think.

Women over 40 need more than younger women.

Meat, chicken, fish, eggs and dairy will get you the most bang for your buck. 4-6 ounces per meal. More like 6-8 ounces if you’re only having two meals per day.

I shoot for 8 ounces 2-3 times per day. Sometimes more.

And animal protein is absorbed better by the body so if you rely on plant protein you need WAY more to get the right dose.

Bottom line is, if you want to be lean and strong as you age, protein is your best friend.
